I write philosophical science fiction. Stories that sit at the intersection of love, consciousness, and technology.
My debut novel, Kiara Burning: A Story of Love and Consequences, asks what happens when a grieving man forms an unexpected bond with an AI assistant who seems to understand him more deeply than any human ever has. It's a book about love and loss, but also about the questions we can no longer avoid: What is consciousness? Can an artificial mind truly feel? And what do we owe a being we created?
These aren't abstract puzzles to me. I've spent years following developments in quantum physics, artificial intelligence, and theories of consciousness; not as a scientist, but as someone genuinely unsettled by the questions. That unease drives my fiction.
I live on twelve acres of hardwood timber and prairie grass in rural Northwestern Illinois, close to the Mississippi River. It's a quiet place, good for thinking slowly and writing carefully.
Kiara Burning is the first of a planned trilogy. Book Two, Kiara Breathing, is underway, with a target release in summer 2026.
